Good morning critters. I have encountered the elusive teen boy patrolling my home for a snack. Heheh he is my teen boy and today I would like to talk about creating a room for those teen boys out there today. Now in today's society it can be hard to be a teen boy especially with cyber bulling and other hurtful ways to make someone feel bad if they are any different. Lets create a room where they can come home and feel safe and happy. First of most boys(not all!) like either gaming of some sort or sports. They do not like to socialize as much or have a few friends in which they interact with. So first things first a bed. Now I thing there are two great options for teen boys. First is a loft bed and the reason I say this is because the underneath can be used for many of a teen boys like such a small gaming area or study area or extra space for when friends come over. The other is a futon bed because these fold up into a couch allowing more space for friends or for what interest they have. Below are links to either option. Now I know boys have many different like and dislikes but most common likes are gaming and or sports or art. A way to organize and keep things in there place even for a teen is a peg board. You add hooks according to the size of things such as a game controller holder, a sports tee or spot to put his art supplies. This helps keep things off the floor and safely put up to make less of a mess. Below is just a picture example of one way to use the peg board as many of you can get these at any local hardware store. A growing teen boy always seems to be hungry and we should allow them to eat when they like because at this age it is not only important for them to eat to grow but also starts to establish some independence and responsibility. This is why I suggest letting them keep a full stocked mini fridge in their room. Of course parents would be the one to choose what is stocked with but allowing this gives them the confidence to choose when they are hungry and eat accordingly. This is a good way to slowly establish a way for teen boys to learn to keep track for food and you can set up a spending limit that they must follow so they can learn how money and food correlate. Now we all know kids and teens alike are horrible at getting that dirty laundry picked up. For a teen it is worse because the smell adds to the problem. So here is a pretty cool laundry hamper that has lids and bags that can be uploaded from the hamper so hopefully keeping the smell at bay.
